Learning and Development

Our philosophy at Timeout is that if we are all learning and progressing, then this practice will thread itself into the lives of the children we care for. It is in this view that we have created resilient learners that can use the knowledge and experiences to improve their practice and achieve the goals set by themselves. It is important to all of us at Timeout that we continue to develop ourselves and push the boundaries of our knowledge and understanding. We understand that this learning cannot be limited to the training room but through the experiences and stories which we share with each other and the opportunities to learn from our mistakes and our successes.

Our clinical team have developed a comprehensive module training suite which focuses on the impact of early trauma and abuse on the developing child, with particular reference to brain development, attachment theory & developmental trauma. Our clinical team further support the teams in both care and education through clinical supervision, secure base 1:1 sessions & bespoke training focusing on specific requirements.

Learning & Development

Our comprehensive training programme covers seven core area’s to ensure you have the autonomy to provide the best care possible.

Behaviour Management and De-Escalation

Inhouse and online training focuses on developing skills to support children to return to baseline, understanding Childrens’ triggers, trends and patterns linking to their behaviours displayed within the home.

Recording & Reporting

We will provide systematic training which is delivered through team discussions, report formulation, graph analysis and group workshops. Through this training we aim to develop your skills around the recording of key information, reviewing and creating reports based on the childrens’ journeys; you will learn how to accurately record, analyse and retrieve information.

Safeguarding

Ensuring all children are cared for and safeguarding is at the centre of the practice we deliver. We ensure you understand the structures and channels to follow.

Team Dynamics

Training is delivered through peer to peer support, coaching and mentorship through your colleagues and management team.

Clinical Understanding

As we adopt a therapeutic approach to the care of children, you will have a significant amount of interaction with our clinical team. This is done through clinical supervisions, Secure base 1:1 consultations, therapeutic module training, understanding of different methods of therapy (e.g. play therapy and art therapy) and clinical support within team meetings. There is an importance in understanding children’s attachment and trauma and how this impacts on their future, therefore we provide training to promote a strong understanding of attachment theory.

Health & Wellbeing

Training programmes are provided to support individual children’s health needs, such as: ADHD, ASD, DIABETES, Self Harm and ODD. We put a strong emphasis on the importance of understanding children’s emotional wellbeing, the importance of nutrition and diet and how to capture children’s progression throughout their childhood.

What Our
People Say...

"I have worked for Timeout for 8 months and I love my new career. Every day is a different challenge but it is such a rewarding experience. The company cares about you and fully supports your journey with Timeout."

Therapeutic Carer

"I'm "new" here, having come back to work for Timeout after several years away gallivanting around Wales and France and as soon as I came back I realised how much I missed working here. The young people are lovely, if challenging at times, and the staff team is great too. I have made friends for life here. But the best thing about working in Timeout is the fact that you are making a real and positive difference in the lives of some vulnerable young people. THAT is what makes me come to work with a smile on my face."

Therapeutic Carer

"I chose to apply to Timeout as I liked the values and the ethos of the company and right from my first visit it was evident these underpin everything Timeout does.
